As the government’s is reluctant to raise the price of gas for the residents, cooperation with the IMF would be negatively affected. The Fund demanded these changes, CASE Ukraine`s Executive Director Dmytro Boyarchuk said in the comments of ”Radio Svoboda”
Ukraine has pledged to review the price of gas if the price changes by 10%. Today, according to the expert, the price has changed by 19%. Correspondingly, it needs to be increased. The Ukrainian party is trying to find a way out of this situation and agree with the IMF, but, as the expert points out, the fund has taken a principled position and is unlikely to change it.
‘It is clear that some election movements now take place, nobody wants to do this. Probably our cooperation with the IMF is postponed. Perhaps there will be a breakthrough at some point, but it generally looks like the next tranche (the next revision) is not a near-term issue,’ he said.
