The New Head Of the Fiscal Service Diverts Attention From Real Problems

29.12.2017 The ‘Focus’ magazine analyzed the work of Volodymyr Hroisman`s government. An assessment of the effectiveness of ministers and executives was conducted on a 12-point school system.

Experts from CASE Ukraine were invited to evaluate the work of the government, in particular of the State Fiscal Service (SFS).

Acting head of SFS, Myroslav Prodan, received a rating of 4 out of 12. Corruption and abuse at the customs became the main complaints to the official from the members of the Verkhovna Rada`s Committee on customs policy. The issue of Prodan`s HR policy also raises questions.

According to CASE Ukraine`s senior economist Volodymyr Dubrovsky, Prodan’s statements about the abolition of a simplified tax system are an attempt to divert attention from the real problems of the agency.

‘The tax police have never been disbanded, tax invoice blocking system functions poorly, and there are very large suspicions that it happens, to a large extent, because of the sabotage of tax officials. The Azarov’s offspring resists the rest of the reforms with all their might, so that they do not even move’, the economist concludes.
