CASE Ukraine participated in one of the most important international conferences for institutions and research centers that promote the principles of economic freedom, the free market, and the limitation of excessive government intervention
The conference was organized by the American organization Atlantic Network—one of the most influential foundations in the field, which supports research and civic initiatives in dozens of countries. This year, the European Freedom Conference celebrated its tenth anniversary.
This is not just a series of speeches or panel discussions. Above all, it is a place where activists from different countries discuss practical issues: how to explain the benefits of a market economy to ordinary people, how to combat lies and misinformation, how to work with new media, and how to develop projects capable of influencing government and society.
It was heartening to hear so much talk during the presentations about Ukraine and the need to support it—both militarily and economically. Among the other memorable points raised during the discussions were:
- Persuasion is not about imposing a new idea, but about helping a person realize what they have long felt deep down;
- Ideas of a market economy are better received if they are explained not through the language of theory or moralizing, but through questions and experiences that concern the average person;

Dividing politics solely into “left” and “right” does not explain the debates over freedom and the role of the state—when explaining the principles of a market economy, it is best to avoid this dichotomy;

Don’t waste your energy on everything under the sun, especially on things you’re not the best at—find allies in areas where others are stronger;

It’s unlikely that a new supporter will find you through the website. You’re more likely to be noticed through short videos, YouTube, Twitter, or TikTok—it’s like a sales funnel, so make it as wide as possible;

Supporters of economic freedom operate on the premise that resources are always limited. Our opponents often pretend this isn’t the case, and this makes it easy to expose their ignorance.
The next “European Freedom Congress” will take place in February 2027 in Athens, which will be hosting it for the second time.
